Today In this article I’m sharing about the thyroid disease and its symptoms and how to protect it.
Thyroid is a gland which has a buttery-shaped and it is located in front of the neck. The thyroid produces hormones that control the shape of our metabolism. Metabolism is a process which our body convert what we eat and drink into energy.
If there’s a problem with thyroid and there’s a low thyroid, nearly a hundred enzymes will be blocked inside of our body. Then we will have protein problems. Our body are not absorb protein to make good hair and started to lose hair. Other symptoms include cold feet, vertical ridges on nalis, constipation, and craving carb.
So what cause thyroid diseases?
As I mentioned above thyroid produces hormones that play roles in many different systems throughout the body. But when thyroid makes too much or too little of hormone, that lead to thyroid diseases. There are many types of thyroid diseases like hypothyrodism, hyperthyroidism, thyroiditis and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
Thyroid diseases are very common with an estimated 20 million people in the Unites States having some type of thyroid disorders. woman is five to eight times more likely to be diagnosed with a thyroid condition than a man.
According to the states provided by health and family welfare statistics in India 2013, there is on patient in every 2000 who suffer from thyroid disease.
Hypothythroudism and hyperthyroidism are common disorders. If our body make too much thyroid hormone, it’s called hyperthyroidism. And when thyroid make too little hormone, it’s called hypothyroidism. Both of the conditions are serious and need a professional care.
Symptoms of hormone too high or low
- Swelling in the neck
It said swelling or enlargment in the neck is a visible clue that something is being wrong with the thyroid. A goiter may occur with both hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. This symptom can also be the results of thyroid cancers, nudules and unrelated to the thyroid.
- Moood swelling These disorders may have noticeable impact on energy level and mood. Hypothyroidism tends to make people feel tired, sluggish, depressed and hyperthyroidism cause anxiety, problem sleeping, and restlessness.
- Hair loss The another sign of being out of balance thyroid hormone is hair loss. Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can cause hair loss yet the hair can grow again once the disorders are treated..
These people are likely to suffer from thyroid disorders if they can relate to following fact.
- Having a family history of these disorders
- Older than 60,especially in women
- Having other health condition like diabetes, primary odrenal insufficiencylupus, thritis etc.
- People who are high in iodine.
Symptoms of hypothyroidism
- Gaining weight without planning
- Having frequent and heavy menstrual periods.
- Having dry hair
- Being forgetfulness
Symptoms of hyperthyroidism
- Losing weight
- Having vision problems
- Anxiety, irritability and nervousness
- Problem sleeping
- Muscle weakness
Thyroiditis is also a swelling of the thyroid gland. It cause because of very high or low level of thyroid hormone in the body, drugs and bacteria and viruses.
The most common in women than men. It has types like silent thyroiditis, post-partum thyroiditis ,drug-included thyroiditis. Symptoms are being worried, trouble sleeping, fatigue, weight loss.
How to protect thyroid diseases?
- Stop smoking
Cigarettes contains dangerous element which effect thyroid. One of those elements is called thiocaynate. It disrupts iodine update and then block the production of thyroid hormone. Research has shown that smokers are more likely to develop Grave’s disease. This is the condition which is leading to hyperthyroidusm. It can also cause Graves’s orbitopathy, eye complications.
- Ready made and Stress
The chemicals includes in those ready made food can alter the hormone production. And stress is one the major cause of any health problems and in many health disorders include thyroid diseases.
- Eat healthy
Eat healthy so that we can not only prevent from any health problems or to stay healthy. Protein, zinc and other minerals are must to consume.
